Someone's inherited mama's bad temper.

Whoops. :) This child can, and will, pitch a fit.

Can I just say: This video cracks me up. She plays the toy violin by mouth. That's talent if I've ever seen it. ;)

In other news - As of last weekend, Lily is on all fours! She's rocking and scooting backwards now... it won't be long before she's crawling.

She's also babbling "dada" all.the.time. At first we didn't think she was connecting the word with Jack, but while changing her diaper last weekend, Jack walked in the room. Instantly, she looked up and said, "Dada". We just stared at each other in disbelief. :)

Also, it's been brought to my attention that I completely forgot to update her stat's from her 6 month appointment! Sorry! So here they are:

  • She's weighing in at a whopping 19 lbs. 8 oz. (96th percentile)
  • Our tall (or is it long, hmm?) girl is 27 3/4 in. long. (again, 96th percentile)
I'll leave you with another video of her rocking on all fours. I'm trying to get her saying "dada" on camera, but she's not having it. :)

So there's this place...

...this magical place. A place where stress just melts away. Where we go to have a few days without laundry, without cooking, cleaning, making bottles for daycare, without worrying about our daily routines. We can let loose and be carefree.

Isle of Palms called our name last weekend, and we answered. We packed up the hundreds of baby items we needed to make it through a weekend and headed to Charleston.

We were met by sunny weather and beautiful family rendevous', and we couldn't have asked for more. This was well needed. Our first vacation as a family, and what a vacation it was. Lily was introduced to her new favorite friend, the beach, and woudln't you know it... our girl is a beach babe at heart. She was made for this.

The Solids Adventure Begins

Lily had her very first taste of "real" food this past Saturday, and she did great! She's been developmentally ready for a while now, but being a firm believer in the "open gut" theory, we held off until her 6 month birthday. We chose to skip the rice cereal all together and dove right in with oatmeal. She did so good for her first time and now, 4 days later, our babe is a pro. :)

As you can tell by the flashing lights of the paparazzi, we were a little excited about this event. hehe

6 months

Here we are. Half of a year has passed since that glorious moment we met our daughter. She's 6 months old. You should all be shocked to hear that we started solids today... and I didn't cry! I'll go into detail about that in the next post, but just so you know, she did great!

Her 6 month appointment isn't for another 2 weeks, so I'll have to update her weight and height when we get the "official" numbers. She has to be pushing 20 lbs! That girl is so heavy!

Looking back at her 5 month post, not a whole lot has changed. She's used this month to master most of her new found skills. Here are the updates:
  • She is still in 6-9 month clothes, some 9, some 12. Size 3 diapers still fit great as well. We're running into a problem at night time though. Since she's tummy sleeping she wakes up in the middle of the night soaked! I have to change her pj's constantly! I'm still working on finding a solution to this one.
  • She's desperately trying to crawl. That little butt will stick straight up in the air, then she'll lay back flat and do an almost complete push-up. She gets so frustrated because she can't figure out how to do both at the same time!
  • I think we can expect to see a tooth sometime soon. At least I hope so. She's been refusing some of her normal bottles at daycare, fussing a little more than usual, waking more during the night to eat, and chewing on absolutely anything she can find. She gets frustrated because she just can't seem to chew hard enough to make it feel better. My poor girl... :( Those frozen teethers are her best friend as of late.
  • We've (or should I say SHE has) ended one of my favorite parts of bedtime. Rocking her to sleep. Nope. She won't have it anymore. She has to put herself to sleep. She's a big girl now, don't 'cha know? She doesn't need mama to rock her to sleep. ::pouts::
  • We officially have a sitter! She's still not 100%, but she'll sit and play for a solid 5 minutes or so without wavering!
  • Her laugh has grown into an outright cackle. Ha! She laughs at everything. Seriously. This child thinks grass is funnier than Dane Cook.
And of course, our 6 month shoot:

Wordless Wednesday

I think that's the last time we'll use the Bumbo... seems my monster baby has outgrown it. :)
